Supplemental Security Income provides a variety of benefits to disabled adults and children with limited income and assets who qualify. At Dale Buchanan & Associates, our lawyers offer a free initial consultation to answer your questions about Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits and the application process.

Income Benefits

Once your application for SSI is approved, you will begin receiving monthly checks from Social Security. These payments usually begin the first full month after you are approved for benefits. You will also receive a lump-sum check for unpaid benefits going back to your disability onset date, which is generally the date you applied.

Medical Benefits

As soon as you are approved for income benefits, you can also apply for Medicaid benefits.

  • Divorced spouse

There is a limit to the amount Social Security will pay your family members. Generally, that limit is from 150 percent to 180 percent of your disability benefit.
